Escherichia coli is a diverse species with commensal and pathogenic lifestyles. Capsular polysaccharides (K antigens) are prominent surface structures, important virulence factors, and targets for immune recognition. The complete genomes of 68 strains with serologically distinct capsule types were sequenced using a combination of PacBio/Oxford Nanopore and Illumina technologies.
