Immunometabolism
The interaction between immunology and metabolism is an exciting, developing area.
Research increasingly links human immunology with metabolic diseases such as obesity, insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes (T2D) and associated cardiovascular disease (CVD). Similarly, human metabolism can have profound effects on the response of the immune system.
The effect of the tissue microbiome on immunometabolism and tissue homeostasis or disease is a focus of a number of research groups here at Oxford.
